2021 Mercedes-Benz GLB Price, Changes, Release Date, and Rumors. The upcoming 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLB is the newest small crossover in the company’s lineup. New GLB is larger the smallest GLA and smaller than the GLC model. It rides on the new architecture that supports A-Class and B-Class models. Visually, GLB looks very close to the concept. Unlike its GLC and GLA siblings, GLB will deliver boxier shape.
On the other hand, styling looks more modern. The angular approach is working wonders for the German automaker. This crossover looks premium, especially from the inside. Under the bonnet, the 2021 GLB will offer numerous engine choices. To this moment the AMG variant is just a speculation.
Different Market, Different Engine
The compact crossover will offer various engine options. A 2.0-liter four-cylinder comes as standard. This engine comes with a turbocharger and it delivers 221 horses and 258 lb-ft of torque. This engine is certain for the North American markets. It comes with 8-speed automatic transmission. A 4Matic AWD system comes as standard.
In Europe, GLB will come with a 1.4-liter four-cylinder drivetrain. This unit is producing up to 163 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. Interestingly, Mercedes will offer a 7-speed automatic gearbox with this one. A 1.5-liter four-cylinder is just a speculation for now. If it arrives, this diesel engine will offer 116 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of twist. Latest reports are strongly suggesting the high-performance AMG variant. It is unlikely for AMG to arrive before 2021.
GLB Is Taller and Boxier Than its Siblings
The all-new crossover is based on the Ener G-Force concept. Logically, the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLB won’t look exactly the same as the concept. It is a similar design and most of the features made the production. Some parts are completely new and no way near the concept. GLB looks less radical and it looks boxier than the GLA and GLC models.
Mercedes’ design language is easy to spot. The styling is more futuristic. Front part comes with integrated fog lamps and silver accents. Grille with the horizontal slats looks quite astonishing. Two-Piece taillights are also looking modern and beautiful. Rear bumper provides a somewhat cleaner look and it certainly looks unique.
Vertical tailgate looks innovating. To the sides, this crossover comes with various wheels options. The 2021 GLB will also deliver some off-road equipment. It includes a higher ride height, off-road tires, and off-road lighting.
2021 Mercedes-Benz GLB Dimensions

This crossover is 74 inches wide. The largest GLC’s width is rated at 74.4 inches. The 2021 GLB is 75 inches tall. That is a significant change from Mercedes. Just to compare, GLA is 58.8 inches tall and GLC 64.5 inches.
As for the interior, the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLB will be very premium. Most of the stuff are borrowed from the existing Mercedes’ models. GLB’s interior looks similar to the original concept. The dash sports aluminum inserts and it looks modern. Stack will host new infotainment display. The instrument cluster is almost the same as on the B-Class models. On the other hand, the center stack looks closer to the A-Class.
