New 2024 Ford Mustang Convertible, Colors, Specs. After years of rumors, speculation, and little else, Ford Authority spies could catch a glimpse of the next-generation S650 2024 Ford Mustang prototype driving around for the first time just a couple of days ago. A few short days later, those same spies spotted a 2024 Ford Mustang GT prototype cruising around and even captured video of the car’s V8 making some lovely, rumbly noises. It has now been revealed that the same 2024 Ford Mustang GT prototype has been spotted yet again, providing us with yet another glimpse of the next-generation pony car.
Another 2024 Ford Mustang prototype has been photographed up close just a few weeks after our spy photographers captured a 2024 Ford Mustang Coupe testing through the streets of Detroit. However, this particular 2024 Mustang prototype is a little different because it is a convertible. 2024 Ford Mustang Convertible.
2024 Ford Mustang Convertible Redesign
It is still covered in heavy camouflage, as was previously the case with this next-generation Mustang GT prototype, which keeps most of its updated styling features hidden. In contrast, the S550’s familiar overall shape is still present and accounted for, consistent with previous reports that the S650 will not significantly depart from the current-generation model. 2024 Ford Mustang Convertible
Several differences between this 2024 Mustang prototype and others give the impression that it is a convertible rather than a traditional hardtop vehicle. For example, the roof and A-pillars have been completely covered in think vinyl camouflage to blend in with the surroundings. Aside from that, our spy photographers noticed a break in the camouflage on the A-pillars, which they predicted would separate when the roof was lowered.
Several other features of this prototype catch the viewer’s attention. For example, it is equipped with a distinctive set of wheels that resemble the 19-inch wheels currently available only on the High-Performance Package for 2.3-liter models and the powerful Mustang Mach 1, raising speculation that this prototype could be a V8-powered variant of the beloved pony car. 2024 Ford Mustang Convertible
The design of these wheels also allows us to get a good look at the brakes, which are highlighted by oversized rotors and black calipers.
There are no other significant powertrain changes expected for the next-generation Mustang. As Ford Authority reported in May, the V8 engine will not be phased out anytime soon. The fact that an all-electric Mustang – in addition to the current Ford Mustang Mach-E – is expected at some point in the future, perhaps as early as 2028 for the 2029 model year, as previous rumors have suggested, should also come as no surprise. 2024 Ford Mustang Convertible
For the time being, the S650-generation Mustang’s other important characteristics remain a mystery. While it is unknown what powertrains will be offered, current reports suggest that the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder and the 5.0-liter V8 from the current model will be retained but hybridized, respectively. Some rumors indicate that a 5.0-liter V8 engine will drive powerful V8 models at the rear wheels. The front wheels will be caused by a pair of electric motors at the front wheels.
It appears likely that the S650-Mustang will be visually distinct from the current model. However, it will be updated to make it seem more up-to-date and modern. 2024 Ford Mustang Convertible
In August, it was announced that the S650 Mustang would continue to be built at the Ford Flat Rock Assembly Plant and would have an eight-year life cycle, as previously reported by Ford Authority. If the current S550 generation had not been extended for the 2023 model year, its lifespan would have been the same as the current S550 generation, giving the S550 a nine-year lifespan.
Although no official release date has been announced for the 2024 Ford Mustang, it may debut in 2023 for the 2024 model year. 2024 Ford Mustang Convertible
